eBay fees in 2026
Most US sales carry two fees. A final value fee of 13.6% on the total sale amount up to $7,500 (2.35% on any part above that), and a per-order fee of $0.40, or $0.30 when the order is $10 or less.
The total sale amount is bigger than your price. eBay counts the item, the shipping the buyer pays, handling and the sales tax it collects. That is why a $40 sale with 7% tax costs about $6.22 in fees, not $5.84.
Category rates
Some categories use different rates. Books, movies and music are 15.3%. Jewelry is 15% up to $5,000. Watches are 15% up to $1,000, then 6.5% up to $7,500. Women’s handbags are 15% up to $2,000. Trading cards and most collectibles are 13.25%. Guitars and basses are 6.7%. Athletic shoes of $150 or more are 8% with no per-order fee.
Pick your category in the calculator. If yours is not listed, choose Custom rate and enter the rate from eBay’s fee page.
Promoted Listings and other costs
If an item sells through Promoted Listings General, the ad rate you chose is charged on the same total, including shipping and tax. Sellers rated Below Standard pay an extra 6% on the final value fee, and international sales add a fee too. Those are not included here.
The formulas behind it
Every result cell is a plain spreadsheet formula, so you can check the math or rebuild it yourself.
| Cell | Result | Formula |
|---|---|---|
| B12 | Item + shipping | =B3+B4 |
| B13 | Total sale amount | =B12*(1+B5%) |
| B14 | Final value fee | =MIN(B13,7500)*13.6%+MAX(B13-7500,0)*2.35% |
| B15 | Per-order fee | =IF(B13>10, 0.40, 0.30) |
| B16 | Promoted Listings fee | =B13*B6% |
| B17 | Total eBay fees | =SUM(B14:B16) |
| B18 | Fees as % of item + shipping | =B17/B12 |
| B19 | Your profit | =B12-B17-B7-B8 |
| B20 | Profit margin | =B19/B12 |
